i hope you have the weekend off man. that will be an amazing set of discussions/ performances.
I was thinking about you at work the other day. i had a student that "plagiarized" some lines in a poem she was writing for my class, and the info got out faster than I could deal with it artistically, so now she has to give a presentation on her "dishonesty" to all of the students. I think it sucks really, given our collective background and interest in theft. She lifted some lines from some cheesy senior class slogan and incorporated it into her poem, but when the directors discovered that you could google the beginning lines and find what she used on numerous websites, the whole thing snowballed. Doesn't sit well with me...but her poem wasn't so great either. Still, the principle of the whole thing is bothersome, and the "punishment/ consequence" was not necessary. Next week I'll be teaching s afew subversive lessons on Burroughs and Jen Bervin. Ha!
what's the slogan. I'd like to use it in a piece.
